In the heart of 2020, amid the escalating COVID-19 pandemic, DU Move emerged as a solution to a pressing concern. Our mission was clear from the start: to provide a seamless, 'hands-off' end-of-tenancy moving solution for the Durham community, particularly focusing on students and landlords navigating these tumultuous times.

Our local business was inspired by a need to adapt and serve during an unprecedented period. We recognised the challenges faced by Durham's student population and landlords alike – the anxiety of moving, the uncertainty of lockdowns, and the stress of managing end-of-tenancy obligations amid a global crisis.

From the outset, we rolled up our sleeves to offer our services. Before the UK Government's lockdown measures were fully enforced, we had already securely packaged, removed, and stored the belongings from dozens of tenant bedrooms. This proactive approach allowed us to alleviate the worries of Durham tenants, providing them with peace of mind and one less concern during a period when our community faced far greater challenges.

As we approached the Michaelmas term of 2020, our commitment and hard work bore fruit. We were on course to assist thousands within Durham’s student community, ensuring their belongings were taken care of, allowing them to focus on their studies and personal wellbeing.
